About GameChangers

GameChangers are upstanding young adults who have demonstrated excellence in their profession, a commitment to bettering their community, and displayed leadership among their peers.  GameChangers will participate in a series of personal and professional development events and fundraising.

GameChanger applicants can either self-apply or be nominated by a personal or professional contact.

Applicants are usually between the ages of 21 and 39.

Applicants should live in the Greater-Baltimore area.

GameChanger applicants should be able to show a track record of professional success and growth personally and professionally.  Examples may include advancement within your profession, promotions or raises, leadership opportunities, professional awards, or pursuit of higher education or certifications to further your professional aspirations.  Applicants can also demonstrate their continued professional commitments through the endorsement of a professional contact.

GameChangers are committed to the betterment of their community whether that is through volunteerism or support of Ulman or another nonprofit, participation in charitable committees, or other altruistic experience.

Once you’ve applied your application will be reviewed by a selection committee and someone will reach out for a quick chat to answer any questions.  You can expect to hear back within a month of your application if you’ve been selected or if the committee has any questions for you.

Honorees will be formally announced in early fall.

Applications are evaluated based on philanthropic and professional experience and success.

No, but we think you will become one once you go through the program!  While we certainly encourage existing Ulman supporters to apply, you are not required to be one already.

A committee made of Ulman Board of Directors members, GameChangers alumni, and staff review applications.

Applicants may apply more than once.

Honorees must raise at least $3,000 by May 31, 2023.

We’ve found that raising $3,000 is totally attainable!  When you are selected and sign on as a GameChanger we will provide you with a fundraising guide, fundraising benchmarks as well as provide staff resources to make sure you’re successful.

When you commit to being a GameChanger you commit to fundraising and we will do our best to support you in your efforts.  The funds support Ulman’s mission and support administrative costs and benefits to honorees.  When you sign on as an honoree we will ask you to provide a credit card for the difference if you do not make the minimum by May 31.

Go you!  But, unfortunately, funds raised through other programs satisfy fundraising minimums only for that program.  Honorees must meet their fundraising through independent efforts.

You will be given a personal fundraising webpage, a staff resource to assist with your fundraising, and a fundraising guide.  The fundraising guide includes ideas for fundraising, copy and pasteable language, mission stories, and more.

The official program begins in November, 2022 and ends in May, 2023.

Facilitated workshops, service opportunities, and events are held once a month for around 2 hours and attendance is encouraged at most gatherings. GameChangers will determine their own frequencies and timeline for their Patient Service Project and to make authentic lasting connections participants are also encouraged to meet with their fellow GameChangers on their own schedules.

GameChangers receive both materials and swag to promote their dedication to the program.  Benefits include:

  • A platform to assist young adults and their families who have been impacted by cancer
  • Recognition in the Baltimore community as a young professional of note in business and philanthropy
  • Networking opportunities with young professionals, Ulman Board of Directors, and Ulman partner organizations
  • 2 complimentary tickets to the Blue Jeans Ball
  • Photo and bio on GameChangers Website
  • Ulman backpack
  • Ulman jacket

After completing the program, GameChangers are invited to stay involved through volunteering, and other Ulman programs.  We will also ask for GameChangers to consider nominating a future honoree and participate in the selection process for the following year.  We hope and believe our GameChangers will become lifelong Ulman family members and supporters!
